When it comes to human trafficking their are so many myths and misconception about who the victims, traffickers, and lastly the countries that support sex and labor trafficking. The following myths that have been provided for you knowledge are only a few that exist. As you read each myth and try to understand why? The best answer is conflict perspective theory to answer those three those questions that relate to human trafficking. Many sociologist have done research in order to understand human trafficking particularly and what leads people to traffic other human beings. Conflict perspective analyze social phenomena at different levels and from different perspective including a macro and micro level. The one thing that all these myth have in common is the economic force that drives countries and traffickers to resolve in a horrible crime as human trafficking. sex trafficking, labor exploitation and domestic servitude. Transforming these traffickers and countries into praetors who pray on innocent women and children.
Myth 1:
Trafficking only happens in countries that are suffering from economic and political strain.
Reality: The reality is that it happens to every country including the ones with no economic or political strain. Including many western countries. Especial Italy, The Netherlands, Germany, France, The UK, Spain, and The United States. |
Myth 3:
Most of these victims that are trafficked, come from countries that have no political rights or human rights for women and children. Reality: False, even countries like the United States and many other western as well as eastern countries are capable of trafficking and exploiting human beings. |
Myth4:
Countries only traffic people from other countries and never their own. Reality: False, people can and have been trafficked from their own country. Making it even more difficult for victims to be able to get the help they need from their own countries when their government are the ones trafficking them. |
Myth5:
Human trafficking is another term for human smuggling. Reality: Human smuggling is when an individual is breaking the law against a countries border. Smuggling is where an individual decides to cross a border in order to have a better life. Human trafficking is a crime committed against another human being. Human trafficking on the other hand is when a person has no say and are force into it. Then they are force to work for their traffickers by being force and tricked into commercial sex, forced to work under horrible circumstance with no pay. If their is pay involved its use to pay their debt and the shelter their traffickers provides for them. |
